Part 1 of a 1989 lecture by the psychologist and scholar Dr. Amos N. Wilson on African-centered education. Wilson argues, deliberately and in depth, that you cannot properly educate Black children without understanding their developmental psychology and cognitive style — and that American, and even some African, school systems rest on implicit theories built for other children. He extends the analysis to collective self-determination, contrasting the mere possession of money with the organized social relationships that make up a genuine economic system.
